The spanish Guardia civil have uncovered a collection of ancient artifacts in a seafood store in Alicante, Spain. The find included a total of 13 Roman amphorae, some dating back to the first century, and an anchor from the 18th century. The objects are suspected to have been recovered from shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. Continue reading
Archaeologists have discoverd a monumental neolithic era wooden structure at Perdigões, a 16-hectare archaeological site comprising of several concentric structures inhabited between 3400 and 2000 B.C. Due to the similarities in design with its stone counterpart in Britain, it has been dubbed 'Woodhenge'. The newly found structure is more than 18 meters in diameter and lies at the centre of the complex. Continue reading
