The new publication highlights challenges faced by World Heritage Cities globally such as over-tourism, non-compliance in construction, unsustainable use of resources, population pressure, infrastructure and traffic pressure, pollution and a shortage of (affordable) housing.
The study also goes over how local community’s involvement and cooperation is important for the success of urban planning and development. The study will help urban planners, decision makers and other stakeholders to find better long-term solutions and plan effective interventions.
