The former Underground Electrical Railways Headquarters will be converted into a hotel by Blue Orchids Hotels.
55 Broadway was built in 1929 and was designed by Charles Holden in an early-modernist style. The building was the first ‘skyscraper’ of the city and was dubbed as the ‘Cathedral of Modernity’ by the Observer.
The Grade-I listed building will undergo adaptive re-use along with 100 Petty France and Wing Over Station to be transformed into a 500-room hotel.
