The appeal of Scottish heritage was the main attractor of the booming tourist industry in Scotland.
A survey in April revealed that 78 percent of Heritage businesses and organisations had incurred severe losses and 22 percent would not survive without significant intervention. The National Trust Fund of Scotland has reduced conservation project funds and is in discussions to lay off 429 of its 751 permanent employees.
