Caerphilly Castle in Wales is to receive a £5m investment. Cadw, the Welsh government’s historic environment service, wants to strengthen the castle as a “world-class heritage attraction” by 2023.

The project will include the installation of a new visitor centre and a makeover of the medieval Great Hall. At the heart of the project is a new interpretation, which will help visitors to explore and understand the story of the castle, Cadw announces.

Wales’ largest castle

Caerphilly Castle was built in the thirteenth century. It is the largest castle in Wales and the second-largest castle in the United Kingdom after Windsor Castle. It is famous for its gatehouse, Wikipedia explains.
