The Save Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online (SUCHO) project is archiving as much of Ukraine’s online heritage as possible with the help of global volunteers.

Whilst some of Ukraine’s cultural heritage is safeguarded digitally, the very servers that it is stored on may be at risk. Similarly, cyberattacks are now a threat to Ukraine’s heritage.

The team at SUCHO are using web recording tools to capture as many Ukrainian hosted websites as possible, before centralising them on servers elsewhere in the world. Quinn Dombrowski, one of the project leaders, suspects that one data centre may have already been taken down.

Newcomers and people without experience are welcome to join the volunteer team, especially those with Russian or Ukrainian language skills.

Find out where to help at https://www.sucho.org/, or check out the data archived already.
