“I’ve never felt alone living here, this building is always bustling. Now there is nobody.”
Ana Viladomiu is a resident at La Pedrera, a modernist jewel built almost a hundred years ago which on a normal day attracts swarms of tourists. Living in the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the past 30 years, La Pedrera is now the emptiest she has ever seen. She remains as one of the only three residents in the building complex, all of whom are separated. “All I hear is my footsteps and silence” she says.
