During a Jewish cemeteries online conference in Poland on 18 August, a new initiative was announced: Coalition of Guardians of Jewish Cemeteries in Poland.
On the coalition’s website you can read:
“We are the custodians of the memory of Jewish heritage in Poland. We keep the memory of those who have passed away. We take care to preserve memory. What we do? We clean and restore the original borders of Jewish cemeteries, restore and restore tombstones, read and inventory everything that has been remembered for those who are no longer with us. We want to preserve the memory of multicultural Poland for future generations. It’s up to us how much of it is left.”
The coalition is initiated by the Polish Foundation for Cultural Heritage.
