Czech Republic: Industrial heritage site to be transformed into a museum

A new museum will be created in the former industrial area at Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava, in Czech Republic. MUSEum+ will be a space that promotes learning in a relaxing space with unique architecture and atmosphere.

Exhibit collections, work on educational concepts and participate in research. It will include a workplace for digitization, conservation and restoration of collection items and research. The museum is set to open in 2028.

The first of the six furnaces was ignited in 1836 and was based on Olomouc Archbishop Rudolf’s concept called the Rudolf Smelter.
