Europa Nostra supports campagin to save Oslo’s Y-block, one of Norway’s most important modern buildings

Europa Nostra supports the campagin ‘Let Y stay’. Oslo’s Y-block, so-called because of its shape, is one of Norway’s most important modern buildings, with murals by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and the Norwegian artist Carl Nesjar.

The Norwegian government wants to demolish the building, which withstood a terrorist attack in 2011. Fortidsminneforeningen, the National Trust of Norway, believes the building demonstrates Norway’s resilience.

The building is shortlisted for Europa Nostra’s 7 Most Endangered Programme 2020.
