Dutch windmill villagers take on tourist hordes

Dutch locals distribute flyers to international tourists

The 60 inhabitants of the Dutch village of Kinderdijk have had enough of the massive amounts of tourists who visit their scenic homes of the windmill laden UNESCO world heritage site. After the latest local plans to increase the number of tourists from 600.000 to 850.000 and to build a second cdock for cruise ships, the locals take to the streets to protest. They have been handing out flyers to the tourist which read: “600,000 visitors vs 60 inhabitants #overtourism”.
