AC Milan and Inter Milan share the historic stadium built in 1926. The clubs drew up a proposal for the new stadium with a capacity of 60,000 last year.
Italy’s heritage authority has not raised any objections over the matter which is an important step to save heritage structures for demolitions even though they are not the final authority. The municipality of Milan believes that the stadium holds no significant architectural value since only a small portion of the stadium remains after numerous redevelopments.
