Matera, the European Capital of Culture 2019, has been given a big boost from EU funding. The restoration of Matera Cathedral, which reopened to the public in 2016 after 10 years of closure, has attracted many new visitors.
“The church has been returned to the faithful, the community and the visitors”, said priest Don Michele Leone.
