Pilot project aims to provide protection for old centre of Kalbe, town in Germany
In order to preserve the characteristics of Kalbens old historic centre, the municipality is trying a new approach of protecting heritage. Among the implemented policies is to appoint a specific monumental value for each individual building, which will determine the possibilities of renovations and demolition.
However, next to a purely historical value, the structure is also valued for its meaning and connection to the rest of the town. This will result in the protection of the cohesion and limit damaging to the overall status.
Among other things, the project will entail an inventory which does not only involve extensive archive work but also a photographic survey of all public space.
