Jewish heritage along the Rhine shoots for joint World Cultural Heritage status

This month, the German cities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz have applied for a joint nomination for the UNESCO title of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” The three cities all have a strong presence in the history of Jewish life in Europe and are riddled with significant places and cultural heritage. The area was known as “Jerusalem on the Rhine.” The decision is expected after July 2021.
