During an online ceremony on 20 November 2020, the winners of the Heritage in Motion Awards 2020 were announced. The winner of the Best Achievement Award 2020 is the Estonian Maritime Museum for its digital and audiovisual solutions in its Fat Margaret permanent exhibition “Towering Tales of the Sea”.
The Estonian Maritime Museum’s exhibition opened in Fat Margaret in November 2019. The building, a medieval cannon tower, is located in Tallinn Old Town. There are more than 30 digital solutions in the exhibition, all very different in character – some of the solutions use big real-time data, others are more hands-on and experiential, and some are based on a vast amount of historic research.
The jury stated: “The approach is ambitious and multifaceted by combining various technologies dynamically, thereby continuously engaging and surprising visitors”.
