“Europe must not allow that things that define Europe – namely, the rich, lively and productive cultural and creative scene – disappear”.
In their discussion with Commissioners Mariya Gabriel and Thierry Breton, Culture and Education Committee MEPs stressed that damage to cultural and creative sectors meant more than just “loss of jobs” especially for small businesses and individual actors. Apart from flexibility for current programmes and funds, they are also considering a system of “repair plans” to provide direct support to the most fragile players with liquidity as well an investment plan and result in support for the whole sector long-term.
