Mr. Robert J. Quarles van Ufford has been appointed to become the new Secretary General at the Organization of World Heritage Cities starting form January 2020. He will succeed Denis Ricard who is to retire, after a three-month transition period.
Quarles van Ufford is no stranger to the field of cultural heritage. Next to being the Director of the National Monuments Organisation in the Netherlands and the President of ICOMOS Netherlands he is the Secretary General of the Dutch National Committee for UNESCO.
