Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament launched a proposal for a European cultural recovery plan.

In the position paper, the Renew Europe Group advocates for:

  • Responding to the urgency and limiting the impact of the crisis on the cultural sector in Europe
  • Reviving tourist exchanges through culture
  • Supporting the European creative content to thrive in the digital single market
  • A real ambition for European culture

Laurence Farreng, Member of the Renew Europe Group and Coordinator of the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education (CULT), said:

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the world of culture is at a standstill. We must not abandon culture and those who make it. Culture is a vital part of our European identity and an important sector of our economy. This is why we need a strong commitment to the revival of European culturefor Renew Europe, there is no Europe without culture.”
