Kick off for 6th edition of cultural heritage GIFfing competition

Since October 1st, the 6th GIF it up competition for GIF-enthousiasts of cultural heritage, is underway. Participants are encouraged to create GIF’s (moving images) using copyright-free and openly licensed material from the selected archives of Europeana, Digital Public Library of AmericaDigital NZ and Trove. The GIFs, often depicting amusing or interesting animations of historical images are to be submitted before october 31st and will be judged on their creativity and originality.

One distinct category this year focuses on industrial heritage to coincide with the Europe at Work project, Europeana is running this year. This project is exploring industrial heritage and working life in Europe across time.

A second category is for children and teenagers between the ages of 6 and 18. The distinct category is to stimulate the digital skill of youngsters and teach them about copyright and online sharing.
