European Commission is evaluating the Recommendation of 27 October 2011 on the digitisation and online accessibility of cultural material and digital preservation to update its use for the present situation: engaging audience with culture in quarantine times.

The COVID-19 pandemic had necessitated a lockdown around the world which forced museums and cultural organisations to shut their doors and disrupted their traditional way of functioning. The move towards digitisation of their collections and other virtual means of reaching their audience has become essential. The Commission asks for the participation of the readers. Anyone’s opinion is welcome: organisations and professionals, technology stakeholders such as companies, SMEs/entrepreneurs, research organisations, academia and citizens.

One can help in evaluating the recommendations for the the digital transformation at online consultation from 22nd of June till 14th September 2020.
