Chiara Zuanni, a researcher at the University of Graz, Austria, is developing a map of digital initiatives from museums during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Cultural Practice magazine of the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, Zuanni reflects on the digital initiatives and presents her map.

Zuanni finds it interesting to observe how museums have quickly adapted existing resources or developed new ones. According to her, both cases raise questions about “the long-term sustainability of these approaches to produce digital gateways to cultural heritage”.

To share her insights, Zuanni is developing a map of her data. She is splitting her data into eight categories: contemporary collecting, social media, streaming content, virtual tours, online exhibitions, games, educational content, and activities that do not fall into these categories.

Zuanni welcomes you to add digital initiatives of museums by filling in a survey.
