24 winners announced at the 2021 European Heritage Awards

On 25 May, the European Commission and Europa Nostra announced the 24 winners of the 2021 European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards. The winning organisations, institutes, projects and individuals distinguished themselves to highlight the importance of cultural heritage. The winners, originating from 18 different European countries, are divided into four separate categories.

The four juries awarded so-called laureates in the categories Conservation Projects, Research Projects, Dedicated Service to Heritage by Organisations & Individuals and Education, Training and Awareness-raising Projects, a Europa Nostra press release stated. In total, 166 applications were submitted for the awards.

The organisation announced the 2021 award winners at a live online event. Various prominent stakeholders such as Europa Nostra’s Executive President Hermann Parzinger, European Commissioner for Culture Mariya Gabriel and President of the European Parliament David Sassoli spoke during the ceremony. Now that the juries have had their say, the public can also get involved. You can vote online to decide who will win this year’s Public Choice Award. The winner will be announced during the award ceremony in Venice on 23 September, if the situation allows it. The Grand Prix laureates will also be announced at the ceremony, while a cash prize of €10.000 is awaiting the winners.
