The Cyprus chapter of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) has urged Nicosia Municipality not to allow the construction of a ten storey building on Kinyras street, designated an area of special character.
“Construction of such incompatible buildings will irreversibly harm the character of the area and will have a chain reaction in the event of similar applications which will be difficult to reject,” it said in a letter to the municipality and released to the media.
