The Workers’ Houses, as they are known to locals in Agios Ioannis, will be reinterpreted as community centres to promote cultural and social cohesion.
The first building will house social support services and counselling facilities with a focus on single-parent families and cases of drug abuse, alcoholism and domestic abuse. The second building will be a cultural centre for arts and cultural activities for youngsters and adolescents.
This is in keeping with the charitable tradition of the building, and the project is part of a larger wide-ranging series of social projects by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
