The pigeon post office in Trebinje is an intriguing place to visit in this little border town in southeast Bosnia. Built by the Austro-Hungarians in the late 19th century, it is the only one of its kind in Bosnia.
Now, this curious monument has been fully restored and is managed
by the Herzegovina Museum. Although it is not easy or cheap to train pigeons
nowadays, the locals still hope their unique post office will help them keep
their memory alive and attract more tourists.
