Locals hope Bosnia’s last remaining pigeon post office will attract tourists to Trebinje
The pigeon post office in Trebinje, a small town in southeast Bosnia and Herzegovina, close to the border with Montenegro and Croatia, is the last remaining pigeon post office in the country. Built at the end of the 19th century by Austro-Hungaria officials, the unique monument is managed today by the Herzegovina Museum.
Locals hope the pigeon post office will attract tourists to Trebinje. The EU-supported project ‘Life on the Bosnia and Herzegovina/Montenegro Border: Ancient Traces of Ageless Heritage and Tradition’ has proven to be helpful.
