Activists gained a win in the battle with the government over redevelopment plans of National Theatre in Tirana after a two year struggle.
The redevelopment plan foresaw the construction of a smaller National Theatre in exchange of public land (its present location in the city centre) and development rights which would allow construction of high rise apartments.
Built by Italian architects during World War II, the twin buildings have been the centre of the theatre scene of Albania since 1945.
